Part naming, $ represents incrementing digit:

YR is next year starting June 28th of each year, so June 29th, 2026 is 27.

Current Problems:

• Items get lost/are never purchased/never made

• Every part is currently just held in people’s minds, nothing written down

• Hard to communicate which part you are talking about

• No standardized part names 

• Always running out of inventory of certain parts

Inventory System Goals:

• Assign a unique number to every single part

• Communicate information about that part in the part number 

• Be able to compare a BOM to an inventory list, and place orders as needed

• Make it easier to manufacturing to track parts

• (Ideally): make it easier to find components in cypress (attached to room re-organization)
